Jill Spaulding - 2006 Water Carrier

The Water Carrier Award is an opportunity to show our respect for the hard work of those who in countless ways help improve, fulfill, and safeguard our mission to enhance the lives of those with disabilities.

For twenty years, Jill has  made an investment of her life that has contributed to the continuity of our Agency

All of us say

THANK YOU

The Water Carrier Award reads as follows…

In the life of an American Indian tribe, the water carrier held one of the most important and respected positions.

Water, like food and air, is essential for survival.

To be a water carrier suggested continuity, longevity, commitment, dependability, and resourcefulness.

At Abilities Services, a water carrier transfers the essence of our tribe to new people who arrive to help us and eventually, to replace us.  They possess qualities like compassion, humor, a sense of history, the ability to teach, and an unshakable commitment to the tribe.

You cannot be hired into a tribe.  Joining -- results from, and results in, an intimate link of talents and skills that each of us brings to the job and the Agency on behalf of our consumers and customers.

These water carriers for twenty year or more, have made an investment of their lives that has contributed to the continuity of our Agency
