Supported
Living
Home
and Community Based Waiver program
|
Through individualized training and supervision allowed through Home and
Community Based Waiver Services, qualifying individuals with
developmental disabilities can live in their own individual apartments
or houses, regardless of severity.
Abilities
Services serves individuals on the Developmental Disabilities, Traumatic Brain
Injury, and the Aged and Disabled waivers who live in Montgomery, Clinton,
Tippecanoe and Boone counties. |
 |
Unlike our
intensive training homes, waiver programs are highly individualized around each
person's strengths. Staffing can range from 1 hour per week to 24-hour
supervision.
Individuals
receiving a Medicaid-funded waiver are eligible for many different services
ranging from residential to vocational to habilitative in nature. Some of these
services include:
- daily living
skills
- healthcare
management
- money
management
- community
involvement
- case
management
Funding is
available to assist consumers in participating in community activities, such as
museum admission, pottery classes or concert tickets
Home
and Community Based Waiver eligibility
Persons who:
- receive
Medicaid with a disability waiver,
- meet level
of care requirements, and
- have an
Eligibility Statement from the Bureau of Developmental Disabilities (BDDS)
are eligible for
Home and Community Based Waiver services.
|
Currently the
waiting list for Developmental Disabilities Waiver Services runs for five to
eight years, with the exception of emergency placement. It is essential to sign
up on the waiting list by contacting
the local Bureau of Developmental Disabilities
(BDDS) Office toll-free at
1-877-218-3096.
Being on a
waiting list does not require participation in the program. For those who are
BDDS eligible but do not meet the other eligibility requirements for a waiver, a
limited amount of state dollars is available for similar services.

Industrial Work Centers
Our Industrial
Services division specializes in repetitive, high-volume and labor-intensive
work. Our consumers thrive on it. When manufacturers outsource
their assembly, sorting, recycling and reclamation services to us, they can
focus on growth while we help them meet customers' expectations.
Located less than an hour from
Indianapolis, our industrial facilities in Crawfordsville and Frankfort are
conveniently situated near Interstates 74 and 65.
Our two facilities offer a
combined 5,000 square feet of warehouse space, giving us ample room for housing
any necessary equipment and supplies.
 |
Each person working in these
facilities has individual plans to optimize his or her vocational skills while
working for real wages in the process.
Some of
those skills are:
-
collating
-
packaging
-
hand assembly
-
sorting
By contracting with industries that need our industrial services, we can provide
some economic independ-
ence while providing a variety of experiences to help make each consumer more
employable. |

Janitorial
Through our
Janitorial program, we clean and maintain the Lizton Rest Park for the Indiana
Department of Transportation 365 days a year. These facilities are recognized as
the cleanest and most efficient in the state of Indiana. Individuals with
disabilities consist of over 51 percent of the employees.
"people that make a difference"
I wanted you to know something nice about one
of our employees. Leroy McKinney, an attendant at the Rest Parks, found a wallet
that someone had lost. The wallet had all the usual stuff in it: drivers
license, credit cards, etc…. It also contained a large sum of cash. Leroy
contacted the people who lost the wallet and made sure they got it back. So
today, I had a message from Angela Neal regarding her husband’s wallet. She
expressed her appreciation and gratitude for what Leroy did and, in fact, has
offered him a cash reward! This is a great “feel good” story. We live in a day
and age where most people think only of themselves. Leroy, on the other hand,
went out of his way to make sure the Neal’s got their wallet back INTACT.
There’s still hope for humanity
Matt Moss
Industrial Coordinator

We are proud to
be part of Indiana's clean rest stop tradition. In a recent survey conducted by
the state of Indiana, ASI crew and supervisors were commended for going above
and beyond their "normal" duties and doing everything in their power to make
Lizton one of, if not THE, most well maintained and clean rest park in the
state. Click to see the
